CLEMENS A. ERDAHL is a founding partner of the firm.   He attended Columbia University and the University of Iowa as an undergraduate.   He has a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a juris doctorate from the University of Iowa.  He served two four-year terms on the City Council for Iowa City.  Clemens is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Iowa and the Supreme Court of the United States.  He is also admitted to practice in federal courts for the Northern District of Iowa, the Southern District of Iowa, the Central District of Illinois and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  For the last twenty years he has practiced in the following areas of criminal law:  state trials and appeals, federal trials and appeals, state post-conviction relief and federal habeas corpus under 28 United States Code  §§ 2254 and 2255.  Clemens is perhaps best known regionally for obtaining the release of Sherman White, Jr., who was wrongfully imprisoned for first degree murder for 28 years. See White v. Helling, 194 F.3d 937 (8th Cir. 1999).
